Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Waste Management & Energy company, to recruit for a Maintenance Supervisor to join a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) based in Glasgow.

The Maintenance Supervisor role comes with a salary of 45,716 + 2,100 shift allowance + overtime + bonus + benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Planning & supervising maintenance activities on site for both the operations & maintenance departments
  • Supervising the maintenance team, along with external contractors
  • Working alongside the Permit Office & Maintenance Coordinator to ensure plant is safely isolated before maintenance work it carried out
  • Liaising with the Shift Team Leaders regarding any emergency maintenance work that needs to be conducted, which will impact the operations of the site
  • Carry out hands on maintenance activities as & when required
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE, Permits to Work (PTW), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), along with carrying out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner
  • Other duties as required

Please note: This position is working Monday to Friday (38.5 hours per week) but with a 1 in 6 weekend working requirement which is why a shift allowance is on offer.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A time-served apprenticeship or formal qualification (such as an NVQ / City & Guilds / HNC / HND etc.) in an engineering discipline
  • A health and safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous
  • Proven maintenance experience in heavy industry (e.g. MRF, marine engineering, power station, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, steel works etc).



Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Maintenance Supervisor role would suit someone who has:
  • Proven experience supervising a team
  • A background leading maintenance on heavy industry process plant & equipment
  • A proven track record of high performance in a similar or transferable industry
  • Willing to work 1 in 6 weekends
