A UK wide, multi-disciplinary consultancy's Rail Team in Glasgow is looking for a Technical Manager (Associate) to join the team of 12 and take a leading position in the design team.
This will be a technically focussed Associate position; you will be responsible for the output of detailed designs on the following projects not just in Glasgow but across Scotland and England:
- Retaining Walls
- New Bridge Design
- Culverts
- Coastal Defence
- Access for All Station Bridges
- Viaducts
- Marina Expansions
- Platform Extensions
- Canopy Design
You will need to already be Chartered with the ICE / IStructE to be eligible for this position and have extensive experience in the Rail Infrastructure sector.
Technical Manager Responsibilities:
- Take ownership and pride in the work being delivered.
- Bring original thought and challenge to engineering problems.
- Review documents, designs and drawings completed by team to ensure consistent high quality and compliance with design standards, industry best practice, contractual obligations and client expectations.
- Liaison with Clients and stakeholders and other relevant third parties.
- Provide leadership to a project design team providing support, mentoring and guidance to less experienced colleagues.
- Input to fee proposals and bidding opportunities.
Technical Manager Requirements:
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
- Good experience in the investigation, assessment, and design of a range of civil engineering projects with a focus on bridges and civil engineering structures.
- Experience of Network Rail's design assurance process.
- Endorsed as CRE (Civils) for Network Rail projects.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in technical written English.
- Track record of developing and maintaining relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Ability to take initiative and manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
