Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Test Technician to support the installation, testing, and maintenance of pumps and associated equipment. This role involves setting up temporary foundations, installing pipework, and aligning rotors, as well as ensuring lubrication and cooling systems are correctly connected. The successful candidate will play a key role in operational testing, identifying and addressing non-conformances, and maintaining test equipment to maximize reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install pumps for testing, including securing foundations, fitting pipework, and aligning rotors.
  • Connect required services such as lubrication and cooling systems.
  • Monitor and control test parameters, including temperature and pressure, to ensure they remain within acceptable limits.
  • Identify and report any non-conformances in a timely manner, working with relevant teams to resolve issues.
  • Dismantle test setups and correctly store equipment according to procedures.
  • Ensure the quality of work through self-inspection, accurate documentation, and completion of relevant checklists.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks on test department equipment to ensure maximum reliability and availability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, cost reduction, and productivity enhancements.
  • Support other assembly areas when required.
  • Collaborate with management and team members to implement company policies and operational goals.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide support and training to colleagues and apprentices as needed.
  • Be open to further training, both internally and externally, to enhance skills and knowledge.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter with a minimum of three years' relevant experience, ideally in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks in a test environment.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and laser alignment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team to meet tight deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain security clearance (SC level).
