A fun, well-respected team of six with lots of opportunity for development and project work. 

Our team play a vital part in the business as we manage one of the biggest expenses; by doing so we develop employee trust, keeping the staff morale high and creating a positive work environment!

Our main responsibility is to ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time. We ensure taxes and NI are paid correctly, pension is deducted correctly and handle queries regarding pay amongst lots of other priorities.

What you'll be doing 

  • Ensuring that all colleagues and customers, both external and internal, receive an excellent standard of service and information is accurate
  • Supporting our colleagues and People Leaders to self-serve on our HR system
  • Updating and maintaining data into our Core HR systems including allowances, deductions, tax codes, statutory payments
  • Safeguarding the integrity of our data through defined data checks and resolving any anomalies
  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of payroll related duties
  • Working collaboratively to ensure consistent and exceptional customer service
  • Query handling to SLA's via email, telephone and occasionally face to face.

We need you to have 

  • Substantial previous payroll experience
  • A proven strong understanding of the basics of PAYE, NIC and statutory leave obligations
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with particular strength in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in customer service and the ability to handle challenging cases  
  • Agile approach to work with the ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work using own initiative
  • Previous experience in an administrative or data processing role
  • Good analytical skills and a desire to challenge the status quo

It's a bonus if you have but not essential 

  • Experience of working with HR systems and multiple bank systems  
  • Payroll qualifications - CIPP or equivalent
  • Familiarity with bank policies especially relating to leave and pay 
  • An insatiable curiosity to explore why we do things and what we might do differently.
