Company Overview:Randstad is seeking to find an Assistant/Junior/Trainee QS to work on a £220 million scheme in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career in the construction industry and work on a variety of high-profile projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for construction projects.
  • Support senior quantity surveyors in managing project costs, ensuring they remain within budget.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports and assist in monitoring project progress.
  • Assist in the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including preparation of tender documents.
  • Carry out valuations and assist with the assessment of variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor work progress and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and invoices.
  • Work closely with project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure smooth communication and timely project completion.

Key Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or working towards).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, CostX, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well within a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
