Our client specialises in delivering high-quality residential developments, renowned for their attention to detail and craftsmanship. We are currently seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team and support the successful delivery of projects.
Job Summary:
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the commercial team in managing costs and contracts throughout the project lifecycle. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with cost estimating, preparing tender documentation, managing subcontractor accounts, and monitoring project expenditure. This role requires prior experience in the construction industry, preferably working on new build residential or commercial projects.
Cost Estimation and Control:
- Assist with the preparation of accurate cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labour, and other relevant factors.
- Support the commercial team in monitoring and controlling project costs, ensuring adherence to approved budgets.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor quotations, assisting in the negotiation of favourable terms and conditions.
Tendering and Procurement:
- Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, including bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and contract documents.
- Collaborate with the commercial team in evaluating subcontractor tenders, analysing pricing, and conducting commercial assessments.
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of subcontractor orders, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Contract Administration:
- Assist in the review and interpretation of contract documents, identifying and managing contractual risks and obligations.
- Support the commercial team in preparing and submitting progress claims, variations, and final accounts.
- Assist in the resolution of commercial disputes or claims, coordinating with project teams and subcontractors as necessary.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveyor
- Previous experience within the construction industry, ideally working on new build residential or commercial projects.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, cost control principles, and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with estimating software and tools is advantageous.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
