Our client Scottish Power are seeking an Electrical Tender Engineer for an initial 18 month contract role working on a hybrid basis.
Job Purpose Statement
Facilitate the production Tender Documentation including the preparation of Bills of Quantities & Pricing Schedules required to deliver the Civil, Electrical or Underground/Overhead Line & Cable construction works for major electrical transmission projects. The individual will be required to liaise with the design, engineering and programme teams including providing support and guidance to the project delivery teams to ensure quality, consistency and lessons learned with the Invitations to Tender Packs.
Accountability Statements
• Prepare Bills of Quantities/Pricing Schedules and Preambles/Definition of Prices taking into account technical specifications, scope of work documentation, design drawings, site information and programmes.
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and in a team consisting of Project Management, Quantity Surveyors, Construction Manager, Design, Purchasing, Civil, Electrical, Overhead Line & Cable, Safety, Quality and Environmental staff.
• Provide technical support and advice to Project and Site management teams.
• Liaise directly with Engineering, Project Management, Commercial, Construction, HSQE and Purchasing departments to gather all necessary information to compile accurate Bills of Quantities/ Pricing Schedules.
• Maintain database of Tender Documentation (BOQ Software tool) for trend and analysis.
• Participate in Scheme Team Meetings.
• Compliance with SPEN Integrated management system, required for the professional and efficient delivery of the investment programme, including externally accredited systems for Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality management
• Willingness to learn new skills out with own specialist area.

• Participation in a large volume of complex projects varying from £30k to £50million
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Provide support, coaching and technical advice.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Idea
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Equivalent.
• Experience in electrical tendering.
• Detailed understanding of procurement processes used in the construction or transmission industry.
• Understanding of CESMM3/4, Electrical Method of Measurement.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC, NEC3/4 & Design + Construct Conditions of Contract.
• Good Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation related to construction projects.
• PC knowledge of Microsoft applications
• Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of either civil, electrical or overhead line and cable works
• Proven ability to lead and work in a team environment
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
• Awareness of CDM Regulations with a good understanding of the Principal Contractor role
• transmission project site construction in either a Civil, Electrical or Overhead Line and Cable discipline.
Minimum Criteria
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Equivalent.
• Significant experience in Tendering.
