Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Civil Engineering Main Contractor with an annual turnover of £150 million, is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis in Glasgow.

As part of the commercial team, you will be responsible for the effective commercial management of multiple projects from tender stage through to final account. You will provide vital commercial support to operational teams and other stakeholders as required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to become part of a dynamic, supportive, and established team delivering power infrastructure projects across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining robust financial control systems, including but not limited to:

    • Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)

    • Ensuring valuations are maximised, certified, and paid promptly

    • Managing contract variations in a timely manner

    • Forecasting costs and values across all trades

  • Supporting the operational team in securing labour, materials, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective contract delivery

  • Monitoring site progress and taking the lead in issuing contractual notices in line with contractual procedures and timescales

  • Carefully vetting quotations to ensure compliance with specifications and obtaining the most competitive bids

  • Preparing and agreeing Final Accounts

  • Accurately and efficiently managing subcontractor accounts to maximise contract performance

The ideal candidate will possess a methodical approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the following attributes:

  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying

  • Proven experience in a similar role

  • Background in the civil engineering power sector

  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently

  • Proficiency with cost-based software packages

  • Essential experience working under NEC contracts

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
