Senior Quantity Surveyor

BelkavitzSloan are working as a retained recruitment partner to a Building Contractor and multi trades company specialising in; scaffolding, roofing, joinery, external render, insulated render, plumbing and lead work services for the residential housing market. This company have an excellent track record of delivering projects for a variety of Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Commercial developers throughout the central belt and west coast of Scotland. For over 30 years, this company have provided an unrivalled level of service to all their clients and customers, deploying an agile and bespoke approach to winning tenders and contracts.

Due to continued success and expansion, this company require an experienced Quantity Surveyor with solid commercial acumen to join the team in Glasgow. This position will see the candidate manage projects that have recently been won for Glasgow City Council and West Dunbartonshire Council, which are set to kick off in the next few months.

  • Analyse the drawing and specifications of the new building that architects or engineers provide.
  • Calculate the quantity of the material used in the building or maintenance contract, calculate the accurate work or labour cost.
  • Utilise technical measurement tools for accurate cost results. For example, building cost historical data to analyse and give the early cost advice, budget the bench-marked projects and prepare the life-cycle plan.
  • Have a thorough understanding of building regulations in order to hold on to them and make sure the building project passes.
  • Have extensive experience in building construction and renovation projects working with local authorities and housing associations.
  • Play a key role in managing the finances for refurbishment projects and make them cost-effective.
  • Calculating the budget based on the consumer’s requirement and preparing an effective budget estimate for each stage of the construction process.


Responsibilities will include,
 

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
  • Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies
  • Perform risk, value management, and cost control
  • Advise on a procurement strategy
  • Identify, analyze and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
  • Allocate work to subcontractors
  • Provide advice on contractual claims
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
  • Value completed work and arrange payments
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Manage a team of Quantity Surveyors
