Finance Assistant - Part-Time

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our client in Glasgow. The role involves a variety of financial tasks, including transaction processing across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash and Bank, and some exposure to the general ledger. This is a highly variable position that supports all functions within the business, reporting to the Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, proactive, and able to use their initiative. This role can be offered on a part-time basis with 25-30 hours per week available, ideally spread across 5 days, however this can be flexible and discussed.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Process all purchase invoices and resolve queries with suppliers accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Prepare payment runs including BACS, Direct Debits, and Foreign Payments.
  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Manage credit card expenses process and reconciliation across multiple banks.
  • Follow up with customers regularly, providing statements, invoice copies, and supporting documentation as required.
  • Chase and escalate payments as necessary.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations across several accounts and currencies.
  • Process regular ad hoc payments and updates to supplier/customer records.
  • Identify and support system and process changes to improve efficiency.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as per business requirements.
  • Liaise with external company accountants and HR organisation.
  • Work closely with global stakeholders
  • Support quarterly VAT returns and other statutory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a finance role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Sage accounting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (use of formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well both individually and as part of a wider team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and integrate into the wider team.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary of up to £25k per annum. (FTE)
  • 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, plus an additional 3 days between Christmas and New Year (not taken from allowance).
  • Pension contribution of 5% employer and 3% employee.
  • Flexi-Friday option to leave early on Fridays by making up time throughout the week.
  • Opportunity to work from home one day per week after 6 months.
