SSHC (Adult Care) Trainer Assessor
REPORTING TO: TRAINING MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Fantastic opportunity for an experienced and qualified SSHC assessor (Adult Care) to join an established team within a well respected training provider. Successful applicant must have a minimum of 1 year hands -on experience within an assessor role and must hold an assessor qualification (L&D9di or equivalent). They also must be a member of the PVG scheme or willing to apply for a PVG as part of Disclosure Scotland.
SSHC (Adult Care) Trainer Assessor - ROLE Key Performance Areas
- Maintain a caseload of learners and achieve SVQs and Modern Apprenticeship (MA) / qualification outcomes in accordance with targets and time-scales as agreed with Manager.
- Ensure qualification standards are met and documentation meets quality standards in accordance with awarding/funding body requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of existing training programmes and in the identification and development of new programmes
- Communicate with colleagues, learners and business associates in an appropriate and timely manner, using a range of communication methods including collaborative technology
- Adhere to company Mission, Value and Quality Statements, Equality and Diversity, Learner Induction Policies, Confidentiality/Data Protection and Health and Safety Policies at all times.
- All Assessors are expected to hold a recognised Assessor qualification.
SSHC (Adult Care) Trainer Assessor - MAIN TASKS
TRAINING PROCESS QUALIFICATION ASSESSMENT
- Introduce yourself to the Manager/Supervisor of the learner on the first visit and ensure that they understand the requirements of the award.
- Ensure that appointment times are kept and the learner is contacted directly if there will be a delay.
- Keep cancellation of appointments to a minimum and cancel only in an emergency, inform the learner directly and re-arrange the next appointment.
- Ensure that all learners obtain maximum achievements in their MA/SVQ qualification within the time-scales set on their individual learning plan.
- Ensure that targets set by the SDS contract are met within the required time and delivered to the quality standard as outlined in the MA Programme Rules.
- Liaise closely with your Manager regarding learner change of circumstances and concerns over lack of progress, repeat cancellations of visits or any identified learner support needs.
SSHC (Adult Care) Trainer Assessor - Assessing
- Carry out initial induction and initial assessment and ensure that all learners are introduced to Training Provider and Awarding Body and SDS (where applicable) policies and procedures
- Introduce all learners to portfolio building using either the online or paper portfolio system
- Ensure the learner candidate and employer are clear regarding the MA/SVQ detail and standards, and issue standards to the candidate to allow for an overall perspective of qualification
- Complete an Individual Training Plan with each learner and assess/train accordingly. This Plan should be reviewed regularly and updated and amended as necessary
- Visit learners within the workplace, to provided support, prepare assessment plans, provide feedback and confirm progress on performance.
- Assess the learners portfolio in accordance with the assessment guidelines and criteria for each MA/SVQ. and outline hands-on tasks to the required level of the MA/SVQ
- Maximise use of the learners work for evidence, and discuss any difficulties in obtaining evidence with the learners supervisor
- Ensure integration of on and off the job training takes place
- Undertake progress reviews involving the learner, supervisor and assessor in line with required timescales.
- Liaise with learners supervisor regarding progress
- Action plan and set an expected achievement date for each Unit/award within the framework
- Give support and help to the learner candidate in order to assist them to achieve their MA/SVQ qualification
- Liaise with and support other Assessors within Rewards to aid learner progress and any business requirement
- Be responsible for and ensure that all the relevant compliance paperwork is completed accurately and promptly in accordance with Rewards requirements and MA Programme Rules.
- Encourage learners and employers to provide feedback/respond to surveys to support Rewards culture of continuous quality improvement.
SSHC (Adult Care) Trainer Assessor - GENERAL
- Carry out monthly reporting activities
- Keep up to date and participate in relevant CPD and standardisation activities and maintain a CPD and PDP log reflecting how learning is being implemented
- Contribute to the Internal Verification procedure, and meet regularly with the IVs to ensure standards are maintained and IV feedback is responded to.
- If an Assessor is also qualified as an Internal Verifier, they are also required to adhere to the role of the Internal Verifier as part of their agreed duties (see Role of the Internal Verifier)
- Disseminate information from the SQA Co-ordinator to learners as required and communicate any relevant feedback from learners to the SQA Co-ordinator.
- Report any breach of security of the assessment materials published on the SQA secure site to SQA co-ordinator.
- Promote Rewards and its training programmes in a professional and well organised manner
- Attend meetings as deemed necessary by management
- Attend to any other duties as deemed reasonable by management
- Ensure work area is kept tidy and organised and ready for work at all times
