Working in the Counselling and Recovery Team at CrossReach offers more than just a job; it provides the opportunity to join an innovative and compassionate team dedicated to transforming lives across Scotland. Our therapeutic services, which cater to individuals from infancy through to adulthood, make a significant difference every day.

Ideally located in Glasgow city centre our Bluebell Perinatal Service provides specialist counselling for parents or carers expecting a baby or with a child under three years old. We offer a creche, so clients can fully engage in their counselling session knowing their child is well looked after. We have also created perinatal counselling hubs in surrounding areas like Hamilton and Govanhill to reduce barriers to access for clients.

Due to an increase in clients we are now looking for team player to join us as a Counsellor on a relief basis. You already know the incredible power of therapeutic care. The impact you can make with a thoughtful question, a gentle prompt, open ears and a human connection. Every day in our counselling services we see and value how these skills can transform people's lives. And that's why we value professionals like you.

The demand has never been higher for our expertise and with dedicated teams working across our services, we are making a profound difference to our communities. You'll be part of a close knit team providing therapeutic face to face and online support. The role will be based initially in our city centre offices, however in time you may be asked to support clients in Hamilton for which you will receive a generous milage allowance. It's a role for a seasoned professional, with a Diploma in Counselling or equivalent. Excellent communication skills and plenty of post qualifying practise hours go without saying, while experience of working in multi disciplinary teams and with volunteers would also be a plus.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. During that time, we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help and with them have been at the forefront of pioneering services which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.

Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.

As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.

We are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our success.
