Overview
Our client is a well-regarded organisation in the education technology sector, looking to bolster their engineering leadership team with this key hire. They have a presence in the US, India and UK and they offer a suite of products which are used by millions of students, predominantly in the USA.
They are looking to hire a Director of Software Engineer to head up a global engineering function made up of multiple cross functional engineering teams. You will work closely with other leaders and engineering management to inform the future direction of the product, based on customer feedback and industry trends - you don't have to be an expert in education technology, but you will become one! A big part of your role will be developing and executing a technology vision and technology roadmap that aligns with the overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement processes which support system projects and assessments and maintain a comprehensive information security program. (Ex. ROI analysis, TCO, Business/Organisational impact) with a view to ensuring that customer data is always handled correctly.
- Overall oversight of system implementations and projects.
- Manage 3rd party vendor relationships, ensuring the best ROI is achieved for the business.
- Manage expenditures and resources across department and project budgets. You should have experience of participating in an annual budget, designed to create a business plan that will allow for the greatest ROI.
Requirements
- You should have previously owned one or more significant process areas (Design Review, Incident Management, Quarterly Planning, Hiring)
- Strong, current knowledge of modern web application development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, REST, Microservice Architecture, React, java, C#, Node
- Past experience of selecting and implementing key technology solutions.
- Expertise in developing strategic program plans, roadmaps, and estimations, including forecasting capital investments and projects.
