Walter Everett is currently helping one of our prestigious clients to hire an experienced SSIS Developer for an immediate start in Glasgow.

What you'll be doing:

This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), database management, and data integration best practices. While the primary focus is on development, the role also involves some support responsibilities to ensure smooth operational workflows.

Development Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining SSIS packages for ETL processes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Monitoring and optimizing ETL workflows to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintaining and updating technical documentation for developed processes.
  • Performing regular data integrity checks and troubleshooting.

Support Responsibilities:

  • Investigating and resolving missing file and connectivity issues.
  • Assisting in queries about production interface statuses.
  • Monitoring and resolving failed jobs and batch processes.
  • Making minor configuration updates, such as schedule changes.
  • Reviewing and deploying new interfaces in production.
  • Conducting routine system health checks and monitoring.
  • Logging and maintaining support tickets to track resolution progress.

What experience you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Strong SQL/PLSQL skills, including query optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing ETL workflows.
  • Knowledge of database design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of batch processing and job scheduling.
  • Experience with protocol standards such as SFTP, HTTPS, and FTPS.
  • Familiarity with Windows Command Prompt and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with debugging and logging in SSIS.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, Java, or VBA).

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of cloud-based ETL platforms like Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with API development and integration.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including macros and automation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
