Specialty Doctor Psychiatrist in Neuropsychiatry

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £50,302 - £60,999 DOE FTE

About Our Client:

They are a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Their assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to help individuals regain lost skills. You will be supporting people with brain injuries from various causes, including trauma, illness, and substance abuse, to achieve their personal goals. 

Main Purpose:

As a Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry, you will play a crucial role during the stabilisation stage, managing poly medications, volatile presentations, and fragmented social networks to create a more manageable and supportive environment for our patients.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric treatment within a highly integrated, neurobehavioral multidisciplinary care model.
  • Conduct regular psychiatric reviews and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver comprehensive brain injury rehabilitation and care.
  • Take clinical leadership for cases, develop assessments, oversee multidisciplinary inputs, and ensure goal attainment and review meetings.
  • Arrange and review clinical tests and investigations promptly.
  • Participate in pre-admission assessments for out-of-area patients when required.

Emotional, Physical, and Mental Effort:

  • Manage time effectively in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities and frequent interruptions.
  • Handle challenging behaviours with compassion and professionalism, including swearing, disinhibited behaviour, and aggression.
  • Support patients with mobility issues using approved techniques, including pushing wheelchairs or using hoists.

What we need from you:

  • Full General Medical Council registration and licence to practice.
  • Recognition under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007 and Code of Practice.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a recognised training grade post in Psychiatry as SHO/CT or higher grade.
