Our client BAE Systems, a prominent player in the Defence and Security sector, is seeking an adaptable and skilled Outfit Engineer to join their Defence business unit on a contract basis. Based at Scotstoun with hybrid working arrangements, this 12-month contract offers an exciting opportunity to support maritime naval ship projects with a focus on outfit systems and compartment design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking a defined range of Wholeship - Outfit activities, including outfit systems and compartment design.
- Providing advice and support to internal and external customers to achieve defined objectives.
- Maintaining quality and service requirements while ensuring objectives are achieved.
- Supporting system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
- Design and operation of various outfit systems such as deck coverings, coatings, insulation, and linings.
- Designing accommodations and wet spaces, medical areas, and evacuation & lifesaving facilities.
- Ensuring ship's access and escape routes including doors, hatches, and ladders are properly designed and integrated.
- Managing commissariat, galley & laundry areas, offices, stores, workshops, and conducting damage control & portable firefighting.
- Creating equipment procurement packs and adhering to rule sets including Defence Standards, Lloyds, and Naval Rules.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in naval and/or commercial ship outfit systems.
- Knowledge of outfit design principles, compartment and product safety.
- Understanding of human factors awareness within a maritime context.
- Experience with systems integration and spatial planning.
- Competence in handling a broad spectrum of outfit-related systems and activities.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external teams.
