Overview
As a Workshop Controller, you will play a key role in managing and supporting a team of technicians and apprentices to ensure the efficient running of the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and coaching a team of vehicle technicians and apprentices, ensuring targets and business objectives are achieved.
- Overseeing servicing and maintenance tasks, ensuring they are completed accurately, competently, and on time.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, including health and safety, DVSA, and manufacturer standards.
- Collaborating with colleagues and other departments to deliver a seamless service.
- Scheduling work based on customer needs, workshop targets, job complexity, and parts availability.
- Preparing accurate estimates for servicing and repairs, including setting clear timescales.
- Assisting technicians with technical challenges and guiding them toward effective solutions.
- Recording technician hours and accurately processing data for payroll purposes.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant experience in the automotive industry, ideally in workshop control or as a technician.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in IT systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues across all levels.
- The ability to lead by example, motivate your team, and drive high-quality results.
