Murray Recruitment is recruiting a Workshop Controller for our client in the industrial services sector based in Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, expanding organisation that provides essential services across Scotland.

Overview

As a Workshop Controller, you will play a key role in managing and supporting a team of technicians and apprentices to ensure the efficient running of the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and coaching a team of vehicle technicians and apprentices, ensuring targets and business objectives are achieved.
  • Overseeing servicing and maintenance tasks, ensuring they are completed accurately, competently, and on time.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, including health and safety, DVSA, and manufacturer standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and other departments to deliver a seamless service.
  • Scheduling work based on customer needs, workshop targets, job complexity, and parts availability.
  • Preparing accurate estimates for servicing and repairs, including setting clear timescales.
  • Assisting technicians with technical challenges and guiding them toward effective solutions.
  • Recording technician hours and accurately processing data for payroll purposes.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant experience in the automotive industry, ideally in workshop control or as a technician.
  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in IT systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues across all levels.
  • The ability to lead by example, motivate your team, and drive high-quality results.
