Turner Lovell has been appointed by a global Energy Engineering Services business to source a Senior Grid & Electrical Engineer to manage electrical and grid projects within the UK and wider EMEA region. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to deliver transmission, distribution, and connection infrastructure on projects delivering the energy transition.

This role will have responsibilities across several key areas:

  • Serving as a senior technical electrical specialist on project teams, including overseas design offices.
  • Interpreting, applying, and providing direction for complex engineering deliverables on Grid / Substation projects for Solar, Wind, BESS and Power Generation developments.
  • Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges concurrently.
  • Manages and works alongside other professionals in inter-department multi-disciplinary teams.


To be considered for this role you should have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience, with a background in high voltage (HV) electrical engineering and balance of plant (LV/MV) electrical engineering. It would be beneficial to have:

  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Prior experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Sound understanding of UK Grid Code and relevant regulations, with significant experience on UK electrical engineering projects.
  • Experience with Solar, Wind, BESS, Combined Cycle, Hydrogen, Grid/Substation Projects.
  • Previous experience in electrical generation, transmission / distribution systems and Grid Code regulations and compliance processes. Experience interfacing with DNOs and confident engaging with clients.
  • Worked on AIS or GIS 220 kV and above.
