Job Title: Health and Safety Manager - Electrical Connections and Utilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Advisor with expertise in electrical connections and utilities. The role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting best practices, and mitigating risks within electrical and utility-related projects.

You will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of projects safely and efficiently while fostering a culture of safety awareness across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and industry standards for electrical and utility projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and site audits to identify hazards and recommend practical control measures.
  • Advise and support project teams on safe work practices, including compliance with regulations such as the Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Provide training and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aware of relevant safety procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, producing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
  • Liaise with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support the development and review of permit-to-work systems specific to electrical and utility activities.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within the electrical connections or utilities sector.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015 regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Demonstrable experience in risk assessment, site audits, and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.

Desirable:

  • Membership with a professional body, such as IOSH or IIRSM.
  • A background in electrical engineering or utilities.
  • Experience in renewable energy or smart grid projects.
