First People Solutions is recruiting for an experienced and dynamic Operations Director for a rapidly expanding, family-run business that plays a crucial role in the power and distribution sector. Specialising in the procurement, design, management, and execution of high and low voltage underground electricity networks, this company is a key partner for major frameworks for Distribution Network Operators across Scotland, contributing significantly to Scotland's critical infrastructure. Their commitment to safety, quality, and innovation drives their continued success.

This senior role requires a strong civil engineering background and extensive experience in the power and distribution sector. The Operations Director will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the operations team, including project managers, engineers, and support staff.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's growth objectives and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of high and low voltage underground electricity network projects.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects within scope and budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Monitor and forecast project budgets, costs, and schedules to achieve financial objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or HNC/D in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • 10+ years of experience in the power and distribution sector, with a focus on underground electricity networks.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
