  • Training hours: 06:00 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday
  • Official hours (post-training): 13:15 - 23:30 Monday to Thursday

About the Role:

Looking for a detail-oriented Quality Technician to join a successful Manufacturing business in Glossop. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards through precise inspection and testing processes. If you have a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of quality inspection in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform final testing of products using various measurement tools including Micrometer, Caliper Gauge, Shadowgraph, and Keyence IM series machine in both metric and imperial units.
  • Operate and interpret results from tensile, fatigue, and shear testing machinery.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings, standards, and aerospace component specifications.
  • Utilise Vickers microscope to check for material imperfections within sectionally mounted parts.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with associated paperwork, route cards, and processes.
  • Conduct calibration testing of in-house tools and equipment according to the company schedule.
  • Complete and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRS).
  • Ensured compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
  • Provide coverage for the Quality Team Leader during holidays or absences, including handling QMS, FAIR submissions, and customer complaints.
  • Undertake training towards EN4179, NAS410, BS9934/1, and ASTM E1444 qualifications for Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support business operations as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 GCSEs including Mathematics.
  • Previous inspection experience in an engineering environment.
  • Provide coverage for the Quality Manager during periods of absence.
  • Experience in quality inspection, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge or qualification in metallurgy is an advantage.
  • Experience with measuring equipment.
  • Experience in any of the following is desirable but not essential:
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
    • Vickers Hardness Testing
    • Tensile Testing
    • Preparation of metallurgical micro samples
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Reliable and able to work independently when required.
