The Recruitment Co are recruiting for a Production Supervisor to work for our client based in Glossop, who are a market leader in the manufacturing sector.


1. Purpose of the role

To supervise the designated area of responsibility, including operational and people responsibility for specific assets, to achieve the overall business targets.
2. Scope of the role
Supervisory responsibility for specific assets within the designated area of production (Underlay)

The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager.

Reporting to the job holder are: Production Operatives
3. Main accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safety of all the employees operating within the specific area and implementing safety initiatives to improve safety performance. Ensure all equipment is operated safely and housekeeping standards are maintained. (Safety)
  • Ensure through supervision of the team and equipment the delivery of production targets at the right cost and quality. (Performance)
  • Be a role model on safety and implement effective methods to improve safety performance in line with the business needs. (Personal Impact)
  • Ensure a robust training matrix is in place for area of responsibility ensuring key skills are adequately covered and trained and signed off against the right standard. (People)
  • Implement CI activities based on the priorities. (CI)
  • Build effective working relationships with team and colleagues to promote an open working environment and to motivate the team. (People Engagement)
  • Maintain the assets with the area, agreeing planned maintenance and engineering to keep area assets at optimum efficiency. (Performance)
  • Manage the area staffing levels to meet requirements. (People)
  • Manage supply of materials. (Performance)
  • Carry out H&S briefings for team. (Safety)
  • Ensure asset boards are up to date with Cleaning Sheets, WI, E-stop information and Risk Assessments. (Performance, CI)
  • Ensure stock take is completed and maintained. (Performance)
  • Ensure all production information is maintained including, risk assessments, lockout\tagout, work instructions and safe systems of work. (Performance)
  • Undertake other tasks in line with the business needs.


4. Experience and background requirements
3 - 5 years proven experience in a similar role, ILM qualification, previous experience in a similar industry.

The working hours for this role will be Monday - Friday on a rotating 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm shift, with a need for flexibility in working extended hours due to the demand as and when the company requires.

The pay rate will be 16.30 per hour - this equates to 33,904 per annum.

This role is temporary to permanent after 13 weeks.
