About the Role

An exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring individual, committed to providing the highest level of support for young people, to join a successful, professional and growing team. If you share our passion for improving the lives of young people; providing them with the best possible experiences while with us; and giving them the greatest opportunities to thrive when they leave the safety of our care, and you want to learn, grow, and progress with a company that is committed to doing its best for its young people as well as its staff? Then we'd like to hear from you.

Job Opportunity

Here at Arnfield Care, we're interested in talking to experienced individuals looking for a move within the children's residential care sector, either because you're looking to step up to a more senior role or to bring your existing team leadership skills to a more innovative company, working at one of our three beautiful Good and Outstanding homes in an idyllic Peak District setting.

We offer:

  • £13.44 - £14.46 per hour, depending on experience.
  • £66 per sleep-in, typically 6 nights per month.
  • 30 - 35 days' holiday.
  • Fully funded NVQs and apprenticeships.
  • Company Pension.
  • Loyalty & referral bonuses, from £50 - £500.
  • Comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, perks & discounts.

We employ people not paper!

Our long-standing, respected and high-quality residential care and on-site education enables us to nurture, support and engage young people to help them to overcome disadvantage. Whether they're with us for short-term, intensive crisis intervention work, or longer-term placements as they transition towards semi-independence, we help change lives. We transform the lives of staff too. You bring the right attitudes and instincts, show ambition, enthusiasm, resilience, and empathy, and we'll train and mentor you, as you mentor the young people in your care, developing your technical skills and confidence, and helping you to build a genuinely rewarding career; the likes of which other employers can't match.

Some of our best candidates bring a variety of transferable skills and valuable life experiences to their roles, making them excellent recruits for our team. Their knowledge of appropriate boundaries and innate ability to make connections with young people are the ideal foundation for our thorough training on the more technical aspects of our work. We achieve consistently successful outcomes with young people because we employ a diverse workforce that can empathise with the cultures they come from and the issues they face. People who have learned important lessons from the school of life often have the greatest impact on vulnerable children and young people who have already experienced significant challenges and trauma.

Key aspects of a senior children's residential care worker's role:

  • Ensuring each young person is safe and cared for effectively, addressing care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
  • Exercising appropriate control over children and young people at all times
  • Leading, supervising and supporting staff members at junior levels as they provide round the clock care and support that is consistent with the Home's quality standards and Statement of Purpose.
  • Assisting the Home's Management team in ensuring that policies, procedures and record keeping measures are adhered to, and resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.
  • Covering various shifts including early mornings, late evenings, and sleep-ins, on weekdays, weekends, and Bank Holidays, within the Homes and on residential trips.
  • Liaising with senior management and external parties such as Local Authorities, schools, health, and other professionals to advocate for, safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people., helping to achieve the best outcomes for our residents.
  • Promoting an organisational culture which values every team member's contribution and is intolerant of discrimination in any form.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality.

Arnfield Care:

Established in 1997 and based in the High Peak, Arnfield Care provides high-quality residential care and on-site education for children and young people from throughout the United Kingdom and, occasionally, abroad. Residents, aged 11 - 17 years, are dealing with a wide range of complex and challenging needs resulting from social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in their formative years. We pride ourselves on being nurturing and supportive, and on using innovative strategies to engage young people so that they can overcome early disadvantages and achieve genuine equality of opportunity in later life. We are a disability-confident, age-friendly employer and we welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
