SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary School in GlossopImmediate Start | Full-Time | Competitive Salary

Tradewind Recruitment is excited to be recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a forward-thinking Secondary School in Glossop. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them achieve their full potential. The role starts ASAP.

The RoleAs a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs, both in the classroom and in small group or one-to-one settings. You will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure that each student receives tailored support, helping to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Supporting students with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Assisting students with their academic work, helping to break down tasks and reinforce learning.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting students' emotional and social development.
  • Liaising with teachers, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure individual learning plans (ILPs) are followed effectively.
  • Helping to create and adapt resources to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Monitoring and reporting on students' progress to help them reach their educational targets.

Person SpecificationWe are looking for a committed and empathetic individual who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Is patient, understanding, and able to build strong relationships with students who have additional needs.
  • Is proactive, flexible, and able to adapt to the varying needs of students on a day-to-day basis.
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
  • Ideally holds a relevant qualification in SEND or is willing to undertake further training.
