Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Gloucestershire for a Finance Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The company is seeking a Finance Officer to join their management accounting team. They are a large and supportive finance department, providing the opportunity to develop and gain experience in management accountancy.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing essential financial support to budget holders alongside their finance colleagues. They will be required to assist and challenge managers within a difficult financial environment, following financial procedures and guidance. The successful candidate will need to be a qualified accounting technician (AAT) or equivalent, or a graduate with a financial degree and preferably have some experience working in a finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting and challenging managers within a difficult financial environment.
  • Providing essential financial support to budget holders alongside finance colleagues.
  • Following financial procedures and guidance.
  • Working effectively and efficiently both individually and as part of a wider team.
  • Developing and gaining experience in management accountancy.


Candidate Requirements

  • A qualified accounting technician (AAT) or equivalent, or a graduate with a financial degree.
  • Preferably some experience working in a finance team within a Local Authority environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience of Excel and preferably SAP.
  • Management accounting experience and supporting budget holders.
  • Good IT and communication skills.
