IT Technical Manager Up to £65,000 CheltenhamCompany Overview:My client is a dynamic and growing organisation seeking a talented and experienced IT Technical Manager to oversee and lead the UK-based technical operations. As part of the IT department, you will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives, optimizing performance, and ensuring systems are secure and robust. You will report to the IT Director and work collaboratively with senior IT infrastructure teams.Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the IT Infrastructure and Support Engineer and IT Support Technician, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily technical operations in the UK, ensuring system stability, high availability, and comprehensive security across all IT systems.
- Strategic Project Leadership: Lead critical IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations. Ensure timely delivery within budget and in line with business goals.
- Incident and Problem Management: Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, coordinating rapid resolutions and performing root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
- Security and Compliance: Maintain compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and Cyber Essentials. Drive the implementation of cybersecurity measures and risk assessments.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Build and manage relationships with external vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure SLA compliance. Work closely with senior stakeholders to align IT services with business needs.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for technological innovation. Stay updated on emerging tech trends to enhance efficiency, performance, and security.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous Leadership & Management experience, ideally 2+ years.
- Strong background in IT infrastructure, network design, systems administration, and cloud platforms (particularly Azure). Proficiency in cybersecurity and risk management practices.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale IT projects using methodologies like Agile or Waterfall. Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Security & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials, and related security frameworks. Competence in implementing security protocols and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong technical expertise in network management, systems administration, and cloud computing (Azure).
- Certifications in IT management (e.g., ITIL, PMP), network/security (e.g., Fortinet, CompTIA Security+), or cloud technologies (e.g., Azure Administrator) are advantageous.
- Experience managing IT infrastructure in multi-site or global environments is a plus.
