About the Role:
We are currently recruiting a Site Engineer for a 3-month initial contract on a major highway improvement scheme in Gloucester. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong background in earthworks, drainage, and setting out. You will be supporting key civil works on a high-profile infrastructure upgrade, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of critical packages on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurate setting out for key construction activities, including earthworks, drainage, kerbs, and road construction.
Oversee and support the implementation of earthworks and drainage in line with design drawings and specifications.
Produce and maintain site records, including as-builts, ITPs, and QA documentation.
Work closely with site management, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of works.
Monitor site progress, report on deviations, and help drive timely completion of tasks.
Ensure works are carried out safely and in compliance with method statements and RAMS.
Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with design teams as needed.
Attend regular site meetings and contribute to project planning discussions.
Requirements:
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer on highways or infrastructure projects.
Strong working knowledge of earthworks and drainage construction.
Competent in setting out using GPS, robotic total station, and other survey tools.
Valid CSCS card (essential); SSSTS/SMSTS desirable.
Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:
Familiar with NEC contract procedures.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and construction management software.
Experience on National Highways / Highways England schemes.
