The Head of Business Development is a key role at our client based in Gloucester. You will be responsible for implementing and developing business strategies, driving revenue growth, elevating the company brand, and strengthening customer relationships. There is scope within this role for a high achiever to earn substantial commission which will be agreed on appointment to the role. OTE £80-£100K

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Driving revenue growth by implementing a significant increase in business operations.
  • Analysing and monitoring business trends, feedback and activities of our competitors, including a detailed review of customer needs.
  • Reporting on key performance indicators and regularly updating the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Understanding existing and potential customers requirements and offering tailored solutions
  • Building and managing key relationships with potential customers, authorities, suppliers and colleagues as well as internal teams.
  • Preparing business proposals whist always holding the business values in the forefront of your mind
  • You will generate regular sales pipeline reports and development activities for the Managing Director and Head of Finance.
  • Utilise digital marketing tools effectively including email campaigns, social media and the website to enhance the company presence. This will include preparing documents and presentations to pitch to potential customers
  • Negotiating and managing customer contracts.
  • Representing the business at trade shows, conferences etc.

Knowledge & Skills

  • A minimum 5 years of experience in business development with a strong focus on lead generation and closing deals.
  • A demonstrable track record in driving business growth, revenue and brand awareness.
  • Ability to assess risks to the business, make key decisions and identify opportunities.
  • Accredited certifications in business development are preferred.
  • Experience in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
  • Ability to analyse market trends and develop strategies to meet business goals
  • A result-oriented mindset is a must, delivering quality results is paramount.
  • You will need to collaborate with various stakeholders which means effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Negotiating client contracts, terms and pricing
  • You should be able to make informed decisions, think critically and logically and provide solutions
  • We require a strong team player as well as being able to work under your own initiative
  • This is a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities and nurturing existing accounts
  • Project management skills and being able to plan, monitor and execute business development initiatives
