Your new companyHays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a successful FMCG group to recruit a driven and dynamic Commercial Assistant Accountant for their Gloucester, Gloucestershire office. A unique opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who wants to transition into a commercial finance position. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for providing insightful analysis on business performance. This exciting commercial finance opportunity will offer remote/office hybrid working and a study package for ACCA/CIMA/ACA. Although commercial finance experience would be beneficial, my client is also open to dynamic Assistants Accountants with the right drive and willingness to learn to transition into a commercial finance role. The position will offer lots of career progression with future succession planning into a more senior role as you develop in the business.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve assisting with the preparation and reporting of monthly and year-to-date sales performance, underpinned by analysis of brand and customer performance to drive key insights. Preparation of monthly/annual forecasts, supporting the business review process, driving an understanding of the accrual process across business units, reconciliations of data aligned to financial reports, and liaising with other departments to correct any variances. You will support the annual budgeting process, support promotion evaluations to drive understanding of business performance, and support effective decision-making along with assisting the wider finance team to ensure group strategic goals are achieved. As you develop within the business and role, you will be given the opportunity to progress.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this unique Commercial Assistant Accountant role, you will need to have some core finance experience with an accounts department, ideally AAT or degree qualified studying towards ACCA/CIMA/ACA with strong MS Excel skills, and key relationship building skills to partner at all levels internally and externally. You will be driven and willing to learn, a strong problem solver with an analytical approach. You will be keen to self-develop, approachable with experience of financial systems, demonstrating initiative whilst being a team player. Experience within a fast-paced FMCG group, commercial finance and SAP would be advantageous but not essential.
