We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to recruit a Consultation and Engagement Officer to join their Marketing and Communications team.

Job: Consultation and Engagement Officer (Marketing and Communications)

Duration: Initial 2-3-month contact

Site presence: 1 day per week

Rate: £21.20 per hour

Job Introduction

The ideal candidate will be experienced with engagement skills specifically in data handling and analysis. Where filling will be handling, collating, and analysing a range of data from consultations and deciphering survey data, and experience in this area would serve the candidates well.

Your key responsibilities in this role would be to ensure a focus on delivering the priorities of the Local Authority:

Responsibilities:

  • To support the delivery of high-quality public consultation, engagement and research, to enables evidence-based decision making
  • To shape and take part in informal public engagement activity to inform early planning and the development of ideas
  • The post holder will be a corporately recognised specialist officer for consultation, engagement, e-participation, and the analysis, interpretation and dissemination of the results

Key job outcomes/accountabilities

  • To assist with the promotion, design, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of corporate consultations, including advising on quantitative and qualitative approaches, corporate policy and standards and best practice
  • Help shape and deliver public engagement which is inclusive and reaches diverse communities and less-heard groups
  • Use public engagement to generate or test new ideas, increase public understanding of activities and encourage active involvement in the community
  • Provide a consultancy service to individual departments, including advice, training and resources and to assist them in undertaking their own ‘self-service’ consultation and engagement
  • Maintain the online consultations and engagement survey platforms and other tools to ensure policies & standards in consultation, data collection and quality are maintained
  • Carry out online consultation and engagement work, including discussion forums, e-bulletins and using social media
  • Use statistical and geographical analysis, data management and the maintenance of an audit trail incorporating quality assurance and quality control
  • Test the use of innovative techniques to consult, engage and communicate with a wide range of partners, stakeholders and the public
