Hays is working with an incredibly well-regarded grammar school based in Gloucester, in recruiting for a Science Teacher for a part-time maternity cover starting ASAP or September. This school is renowned for its academic excellence and supportive environment. The Science department is well-equipped and fosters a collaborative atmosphere amongst staff. The school caters to students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, providing a comprehensive education in a vibrant and dynamic setting. Your new role

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons to students across various key stages. This part-time role involves covering maternity leave and will require you to adapt to the school's curriculum and teaching methods. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, delivering high-quality instruction, and assessing student progress. You will also be expected to contribute to the department's extracurricular activities and support the overall development of students.

What you'll need to succeed

  • PGCE / QTS or an accepted UK equivalent - ECTs & NQTs are welcome to apply
  • Relevant Degree
  • Experience teaching science at KS4 - a specialism in Biology or Physics is advantageous.
  • A passion for working with young people and teaching them
  • Experience working with students or young people in the UK
  • Ability to manage behaviour and classrooms to create positive learning environments
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Hays
  • At least 40 days of UK experience working with students or young people
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
