Underwriter

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join Morton Michel. This role would suit someone with commercial combined insurance experience. Morton Michel's underwriting team support the direct and wholesale teams dealing with underwriting queries from all aspects of the customer’s journey.

You will need to be organised and have excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships, at all levels, with brokers, insurers, and across the business.

You will work in a wider team responsible for the product and propositions and work closely with the other customer facing teams.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be dealing with underwriting referrals for new business quotations, mid-term adjustment and renewals in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority guidelines,
  • You will handle queries within agreed authority limits,
  • You will be required to be organised with your work and prioritise.
  • You will adhere to compliance and regulatory procedures,
  • You will ensure that team KPI’s, service standards and targets are achieved and exceeded where possible.
  • You will be responsible for Technical QA as well as other ad hoc responsibilities as required by the business.
  • You will be actively involved in providing training content and promote a culture of excellent customer service, team performance and continuous improvement.

Experience:

  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • You will have commercial combined insurance experience, and previous knowledge of delegated authority schemes.
  • You will have experience of working within a regulated FCA environment (essential),
  • You will have good experience using bespoke systems preferably including Acturis,
  • You will have a high attention to detail, coupled with excellent organisation and time management,
  • You will be able to work under pressure, adapt and be flexible in approach,
  • You will have good communication skills having the ability to communicate at all levels.
