Job Description: Production Engineer

Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and proactive Production Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on quality, health and safety, and environmental management. You will play a key role in writing and implementing operating procedures, specifying plant and equipment needs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all plant, equipment, and processes meet health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements, including conducting thorough risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain detailed operating procedures for manufacturing and internal processes, ensuring clarity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify and investigate opportunities for process improvements, staying up to date with the latest developments in plant and equipment.
  • Provide day-to-day support for production line processes, including root-cause analysis of faults, defects, and process issues.
  • Propose, evaluate, and implement improvement projects focused on cost savings, material efficiency, machine efficiency, manpower efficiency, and reducing the "Cost of Poor Quality."
  • Assist in designing and optimizing shop floor layouts and cell designs to enhance productivity and workflow.
  • Issue relevant permits to work for subcontractors performing onsite activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide support to other areas of the business as needed, contributing to overall operational success.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Clear and concise in writing and implementing work instructions, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing and optimizing production line processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven analytical skills with a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Confident in using various IT systems, including MS Office.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Proven experience working in a busy production environment.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with material mixing processes.
  • Experience in laminating processes.
  • Familiarity with injection molding processes.
