My Client in Gloucester are seeking a talented and innovative Materials Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, designing, and testing materials that enhance the quality, performance, and sustainability of our products. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in material science, experience with various materials such as metals, polymers, and composites, and a passion for problem-solving. You will be working across diverse industries such as aerospace, defence, and automotive.

Key Responsibilities – Materials Engineer

  • Material Mastery: Utilize your technical expertise and engineering judgment to make critical decisions on material when needed.
  • Root Cause Investigation: Lead or support technical troubleshooting efforts to uncover the root causes of material failures and implement effective solutions.
  • Tech Initiatives Support: Back up our technical initiatives such as material compliance, dual sourcing, and parts verification to keep us ahead of the curve.
  • Design Integration: Collaborate seamlessly with our R&D and design teams to ensure the smooth integration of new products into our manufacturing processes.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including impregnation, pressing, and blown film lines, to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Bid Support: Work with the project team to develop cost-effective manufacturing approaches and drive completion of cost reduction initiatives where required.
  • Compliance Implementation: Implement and maintain control measures to ensure compliance with specifications and standards, safeguarding our reputation for excellence.
  • Industry Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge.

Qualifications & Requirements – Materials Engineer

  • Educational Foundation: Minimum HNC in a relevant science or engineering field.
  • Technical Experience: Experience in technical manufacturing engineering roles is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proactive Approach: Ability to prioritize and support multiple projects simultaneously in a proactive manner.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of analysing complex technical issues.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration, with the ability to lead technical projects and write clear, concise documentation
