Performance & Dynamics Engineer

Location: Gloucester, UK (Hybrid)

Company Overview: Join our clients' innovative engineering team in Gloucester, where they specialise in delivering performance and dynamic analysis for aircraft systems, including landing gear, shock absorption, extension/retraction and steering. Their team supports major programmes within the Systems Engineering team, ensuring the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Position Overview: Our client are seeking a number of skilled and motivated Performance and Dynamics Engineers to join their Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting performance and dynamic analysis for mechanical, hydraulic, and occasionally basic electrical systems. You will play a key role in guiding product development to ensure that the integrated system meets program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build computational models and run simulations.
  • Calculate static and dynamic loads.
  • Conduct performance and frequency response analyses.
  • Perform stability, shimmy, modal analysis, and failure case analyses.
  • Correlate and validate computational models.
  • Write and validate performance and dynamics requirements.
  • Define and document simulation cases and pass/fail criteria.
  • Optimise design solutions in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Define test requirements and analyse and interpret test results.
  • Ensure adherence to programme schedules.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred, however, alternative qualifications (i.e. HND) will be considered with relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-body dynamic modelling and simulation.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, MSC ADAMS, MSC EASY5 and/or AMESim.

Desirable

  • Experience with landing gear extension/retraction analysis, shock absorber performance analysis, recoil analysis, shimmy and stability analysis and system loads generation.
  • Knowledge of nose-wheel steering analysis, vibration analysis, electrical systems engineering, airworthiness requirements and aircraft systems certification.
  • Experience with requirements management and DOORS.
