Senior Mechanical Design EngineerGloucestershireUp to £70,000Responsibilities:As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing a variety of standard and custom machines and tooling. The role involves taking the technical lead on specific projects identified by the Technical Director/Engineering Manager or Team Managers. Additionally, you will assist the Engineering Manager in coaching other Mechanical Engineers to develop their design skills and adhere to departmental processes.Description:

  • Design standard and custom machines and tooling.
  • Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, while ensuring compliance with machine specification, safety regulations, and CE compliance.
  • Select mechanical components with consideration for standardisation, obsolescence, availability, and cost.
  • Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, while ensuring design files and information are up-to-date and stored appropriately.
  • Liaise with other departments, including operations, manufacturing, and production engineers, to ensure products are designed for manufacture and customer requests are handled efficiently.
  • Take technical lead on specific projects, coach and support Mechanical Engineers in design techniques and departmental processes, and identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements.
  • Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and consistently apply workplace management and rules.

Must haves:
