Our client is a leading M&E contractor who specialises in the design, installation, and maintenance of Mechanical and Electrical systems for the commercial and industrial building sectors. Due to a period of continued growth, they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Salary & Benefits
- Salary £60,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Job Overview
- Producing detailed mechanical engineering designs and calculations.
- Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into the overall project design.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Managing and mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional development.
- Conducting site inspections and liaising with our construction team to ensure successful implementation of projects.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports, specifications, and documentation.
- Providing technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Job Requirements
- Proven experience in Mechanical and HVAC system design
- Strong knowledge of Part L Compliance, BREEAM, and thermal analysis
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit is a bonus but not essential)
- Experience using HevaComp, IES, or TAS software (advantageous)
- Experience in Stage 4 design, ability to produce Level 5 designs and contribute to Stage 3 projects
- A background in designing for contractors is highly desirable
- Practical knowledge/experience more specifically in relation to coordination and practicalities of installation
