Since their inception in 2000, our client has supported the UK and Irish Manufacturing industry with all things measurement. They have developed to improve efficiency across the whole quality and production process with high-speed technology and digitalisation and automation of manual processes. They achieve this with quality management software, data control and analysis technology as well as a wide range of metrology solutions from their global manufacturing partners. They provide equipment as well as services such as calibration, sub-contract measurement, training and metrology consultancy. They are now looking for an experienced, competent engineering professional who can adapt to various challenging technical scenarios and provide comprehensive solutions to customers. A proactive team player who is good in front of clients, whilst being technically competent. A background in mechanical or science is a must, and metrology experience is vital.
Please note this role is fully on-site so suitable applicants must be willing to commute to Gloucester Monday to Friday.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages and delivers client metrology projects on time, to a high technical standard and to the satisfaction of clients.
- Support the sale and implementation of metrology equipment and projects through pre and post-sales work.
- Developing and delivering complex metrology solutions to the client base in medical, automotive and aerospace applications.
- Designing and developing metrology fixtures, producing engineering drawings and manufacturing data. Testing and producing robust, reproducible metrology programs to clients.
- Owning and running custom projects, developing solid delivery plans, managing customer expectations, organizing and coordinating with service and operations team for smooth delivery.
- Solving technical challenges which arise in projects without supervision proactively and with urgency.
- Work with the sales team to deliver on-site and in-house demonstrations of the portfolio of metrology systems and develop a solution based on the outcome the customer requires.
- Coordinate with other Technical Delivery Team members to provide managerial cover for Head of Technical Delivery when absent
Previous Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelors/master’s in mechanical engineering or relevant science.
- 5 -10 years working as a metrologist or senior quality engineer.
- High level of metrology knowledge, including calibration uncertainty, Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T) and Measurement Systems Analysis.
- Programming complex metrology Systems e.g. CMMs, and vision systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills to deal with the challenging technical demands of clients.
- Project management knowledge
- Strong organisation and communication skills
- Mechanical design of Metrology Fixtures
- Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD packages.
- Robotics or industrial automation experience. (Desirable)
- Software and programming experience. (Desirable)
