Job Title: Stress Engineer (Hybrid)Location: CheltenhamJob OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our clients military team, specialising in landing gear structural analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in classical stress analysis methods, focusing on both static and fatigue calculations. This role involves assessing the structural integrity of landing gear systems to support ongoing military projects. Extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills are not required, and candidates with limited or no FEA experience are still encouraged to apply.Key Responsibilities:*Perform classical static stress analysis on landing gear components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with design criteria and military safety standards.*Conduct fatigue analysis to evaluate the durability and lifespan of landing gear systems under operational loads.*Provide technical support to design and engineering teams, focusing on the structural validation of landing gear components.*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and improve landing gear designs, ensuring structural integrity and performance.*Prepare and review stress reports, technical documentation, and detailed calculations to support landing gear project objectives.*Ensure all work adheres to military and regulatory standards for landing gear systems, promoting safety and reliability.Key Requirements:*Proven experience in classical stress calculations for both static and fatigue loading, specifically related to landing gear.*Strong understanding of material properties, failure mechanisms, and structural behaviours for landing gear systems.*Ability to work independently and within a team to address technical challenges without advanced FEA tools.*Familiarity with military or aerospace industry standards related to landing gear is highly desirable.*Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.Preferred Qualifications:*Prior experience working on landing gear in the military or defence sector.*Experience with fatigue analysis methodologies and lifecycle assessments for landing gear systems.*Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements for military-grade landing gear performance.Additional Information:This position does not require extensive experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and candidates without FEA skills will also be considered.
