About the Role:
As a Metrologist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and quality within the manufacturing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing precise measurements, calibrating equipment, and ensuring that production meets industry standards. You will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to support product development and troubleshoot measurement-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precise measurements using a variety of metrology equipment, including CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), 3D scanners, micrometers, and more.
- Develop and implement measurement procedures to ensure the accuracy and quality of manufacturing processes.
- Calibrate and maintain metrology equipment to ensure it is functioning at optimal levels.
- Analyze measurement data and generate detailed reports to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide measurement support for new designs, testing, and quality assurance.
- Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for measurement-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and drive continuous improvements in measurement techniques.
- Maintain comprehensive records of calibration, measurement, and equipment maintenance activities.
- Provide training and technical support to other team members on measurement tools and techniques.
- Proven experience as a Metrologist or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of metrology principles, measurement techniques, and equipment.
- Experience with CMMs, 3D scanning, and other precision measurement tools.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Relevant qualifications in Metrology, Engineering, or a related field (HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 is desirable.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering-focused industry.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality assurance techniques.
- Proficiency in metrology software such as PC-DMIS.
