Abatec are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our client, a leading provider of Infrastructure Services, on a Major Highways Project in Gloucestershire. This project is a crucial development for the local area and will have a lasting impact on regional connectivity.

Our client, a national Tier 1 Contractor with a turnover of over 4bn and a secure order book, is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Earthworks and/or Highways. You will play a key role in delivering a 460m road link in the beautiful Cotswolds, helping to provide over three miles of much-needed dual carriageway while also supporting active travel initiatives for the local community.


This major strategic road upgrade is a vital development for the area, designed to improve transport links while also enhancing local infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. Once completed, the project will not only alleviate congestion but also promote sustainability through improved cycling and pedestrian lanes, offering long-term benefits to residents and visitors alike.

As Project Manageryou will:

  • Implement safe systems of work for site activities, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and welfare are maintained.
  • Manage all phases of the project, from contract award to close out, to meet all contractual requirements.
  • Manage quality inspection records on site in line with the quality plan.
  • Be responsible for the rectification of defects and the receipt of the Making Good Defects Certificate.
  • Oversee the co-ordination of operatives, subcontractors and supplier in a planned and controlled manner ensuring efficiency and minimising costs.
  • Ensure work is carried out to the correct specification and QA standards.
  • Provide support and reviews to tender strategies for the major projects including buildability reviews
  • Develop strong working relationships with the clients Management team and Project delivery team

Our client requires a Project Manager with:

  • Significant experience in Project Management within the construction/infrastructure sector, particularly in Earthworks and/or Highways.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects, ideally in the roads/highways sector.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and oversee site teams.
  • Sound understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations within the highways sector.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to deadlines, whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant tickets including CSCS, SMSTS, National Highways Passport.
