Buying Assistant

Our very well established, successful, and constantly developing client based in Gloucester currently have a vacancy for a Buying Assistant to join the team in a contract expected to last a minimum of 6-months.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Assistant will be responsible for ensuring smooth delivery of purchase orders including scheduling transport and delivery, updating relevant team members on delivery status, transport scheduling and assist with processing orders when necessary.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure smooth delivery of supplier materials.

- Work closely with teams across the supply chain.

- Build strong working relationships with suppliers and negotiate terms where necessary.

- Manage purchase order backlog and update order dates and notations.

- Monitor and expedite overdue orders and update production schedules.

- Assist with placing, amending and managing purchase orders, including consignment stock and calibration items.

- Run monthly On-Time Delivery (OTD) reports.

- Maintain supplier records and assist with relevant invoice queries.

- Work with relevant teams to improve supplier quality and reduce defects.

- Review daily MRP demands and update orders as needed.

- Ensure internal targets and deadlines are met.

- Support short-term projects and assist with reporting and data management.

- Communicate order status and delays effectively to relevant teams.

- Provide cover for other roles within the team as needed.

- Visit suppliers when required.

- Any other ad hoc duties and meeting attendance as required.

Candidate Attributes:

- Previous office/administration skills

- Highly motivated, team player with good organisation skills who can work under pressure.

- Strong communication skills.

- Ability to manage own time effectively.

Hours: 37h per week, Monday Friday, (2pm finish on a Friday!)

Salary: Competitive salary range (able to disclose upon application) + 25 days hols + bank hols & excellent benefits package!
