Role Overview:

The Assistant Commercial Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the commercial team and contributing to the company’s ongoing success and growth. The role involves active participation in meetings with the Pre-construction team and senior management, as well as daily communication with clients to build and maintain strong relationships. The successful candidate will visit live construction sites across the UK, prepare quotes, tenders, and variations for MEP services, and ensure that client requirements are met effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage professionally with existing and potential clients
  • Prepare detailed quotes, tenders, and variations for MEP services on construction projects
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Commercial, Buying, and Admin teams to meet project deadlines
  • Support the handover of secured projects to operations/contracts teams, including identifying risks, opportunities, and exclusions
  • Attend site meetings and ensure valuations are submitted in accordance with project requirements
  • Follow up on valuations to ensure timely payments and agree on final accounts

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Passionate about learning and has an interest in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proactive, approachable, and a strong team player
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build relationships through email, phone, and in-person interactions
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, capable of updating documents accurately using in-house systems
  • Flexible and committed to meeting deadlines
  • Possesses negotiation skills and a full UK driving licence
  • IT literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with CAD or other related software is advantageous
  • Knowledge of building services or the construction industry is preferred
