Position Overview:

Based in Gloucester, my client is looking for an accounts assistant to join the team on a 6 month FTC to help support the finance team on projects coming up. As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for accurate and timely transactional processing across all Freemans' entities, including purchase invoices, credit card expenses, bank postings, and PDQ settlement. The role will ensure efficient and smooth running of daily and month-end financial activities, contributing to the overall financial health of the company. This is a 6 month FTC position fully office based in Gloucester with a salary off up to £26,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase invoices, ensuring they are 3-way matched to purchase orders where applicable.
  • Run payment runs for approval, address any discrepancies, and send remittance advices.
  • Review supplier statements regularly to ensure up-to-date ledger positions.
  • Analyze large supplier invoices and distribute to appropriate divisions.
  • Post and reconcile bank activities in Sage 50 daily and perform month-end closing reconciliation.
  • Process ad-hoc payments as required and manage weekly payroll journals and payments.
  • Analyze credit card and expenses transactions, ensuring correct VAT and coding treatment before uploading into Sage 50.
  • Manage petty cash and monthly reconciliations.
  • Reconcile divisional takings and float accounts on a fortnightly basis.
  • Process PDQ payments and ensure settlement of group debt.
  • Raise and reconcile Intercompany Debtors/Creditors and nominal ledgers monthly.
  • Support colleagues and assist with ad-hoc tasks to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Collaborate with divisions to streamline processes and promote sustainability best practices.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in a varied finance role, with strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and ability to manipulate data for reporting.
  • Proficient in Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and organizational skills.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to present financial information to non-financial colleagues.
  • Excellent planning, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective business relationships.
