Hays is working with a Gloucester-based secondary school in recruiting for a Qualified Science Teacher for maternity leave cover on a full-time basis. This school is renowned for its academic excellence and supportive environment. The science department is well-resourced and committed to delivering high-quality education. The school has received a 'Good' rating from Ofsted and offers a broad curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Your new role

In your new role as a Qualified Science Teacher, you will be covering a maternity leave assignment on a full-time basis. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing feedback to support their development.
  • Preparing students for exams and ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Maintaining discipline and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance the science curriculum and share best practices.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A passion for working with young people and teaching them.
  • The ability to manage behaviour and classrooms to create positive learning environments.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A PGCE or an accepted UK equivalent qualification - ECTs & NQTs are welcome to apply.
  • A relevant degree.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to apply for one through Hays.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
