About the Role:We are seeking a hands-onPattern Shop Managerto lead and develop our diverse team. As a key member of the leadership team, you will manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including significant customer engagement. This role is ideal for a qualified professional adept at solving complex problems and proposing alternative solutions when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the smooth and safe operation of the Pattern Shop, including staff management and workload planning.
  • Set objectives, conduct appraisals, and lead performance reviews. Implement and deliver training programmes for the team, mentoring apprentices throughout their training.
  • Design patterns and moulds for custom applications using CAD/CAM software. Construct patterns and moulds using wood, metal, and composite materials.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safe storage. Ensure all production activities are conducted safely and in accordance with legislative and company procedures. Manage risk assessments and ensure team adherence to safe working practices.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings. Apply woodworking skills using hand tools and powered workshop equipment. Program CNC machines.
  • Oversee stock control, including stocktaking and ordering tools and materials.

Candidate Requirements:

  • City and Guilds (or equivalent) in Patternmaking, Engineering, or Mould Making.
  • Proven managerial experience with strong leadership skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and competence in physics and mathematics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office tools.
