Gloucestershire County Council -Youth Support Housing Team - Case Responsible Officer Location –Shire Hall, GL1 2TG (You will be based within Gloucestershire working across various locality offices.  The role will involve some hybrid working both at home and in the office)On going contract – 37 hours - £14.32ph  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and support to social care colleagues who are:
  • Supporting children in care move on from their placements
  • Supporting care leavers navigate their housing options
  • Supporting care leavers who have become homeless
  The pace is fast, and the work can be complex, but extremely rewarding. The successful candidate will embrace a trauma informed and person-centred approach working with young people and helping them explore their housing options.You will need excellent engagement and communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information to young people.You will have excellent skills in engaging and building relationships with children and young people.   The team supports professionals working with some of the most vulnerable children within Gloucestershire and to be part of the team you will need the following experience/knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Code of Guidance how they are applied
  • A good working knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989
  • Experience of working with children in care and care leavers
  • Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate concisely and effectively
  • Adaptable and willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and locations if/when required
  • Able to prioritise regularly changing workloads
