Advanced Practitioner (16+ Care Leavers)

We are seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join our dedicated 16+ Care Leavers teams based in Cheltenham and Stroud. This role is crucial in supporting young individuals transitioning from care to independence, ensuring they receive the right support at the right time.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work collaboratively with the Team Manager to oversee pathway-planning and independence work for care leavers aged 16 and above.
  • Manage a protected caseload of up to 8 young people with complex needs, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide supervision and management oversight for the practice and development of Trainee Social Workers and Newly Qualified Social Workers within the team.
  • Lead quality control, assurance, and improvement activities within the team and across the service.
  • Facilitate group reflective supervision sessions to promote professional development and best practice standards.
  • Engage in direct work with children, young people, and their families to build resilience and deliver improved outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Recognised qualification in Social Work.
  • Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
  • Demonstrable experience in children and families statutory social work.
  • Supervisory, mentoring, coaching, or training experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to use computerised case recording systems and handle data efficiently.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the county.
