Join Gloucestershire County Council in an exciting phase of investment in our Disabled Children’s Service. We are expanding our team and seeking experienced Senior Social Workers / Social Workers dedicated to providing exceptional service and care.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Work closely with children, young people, and their families, as well as other staff within the service function and partner agencies.
  • Promote and carry out statutory duties as required by legislation and guidance.
  • Assess the needs of children, young people, and families to plan and implement suitable multi-agency interventions and service provisions.
  • Manage a caseload with a high level of complexity and risk, including those children subject to care proceedings and child protection plans.
  • Act in a consultative role to less experienced social workers, ensuring reflective practice in all assessments and the development of outcome-focused plans.
  • Provide mentoring and specialist consultation or advice to colleagues and other professionals.
  • Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families to manage risk and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Attend meetings requiring high-level professional input and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Recognised qualification in Social Work.
  • Successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive.
  • DBS clearance.
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory children’s services fieldwork team.
  • Experience in multi-agency working to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Expertise in frameworks for assessment and intervention, and a strong understanding of legislation and statutory frameworks.
