Special needs learning support - Full time

Zen Educate are seeking someone to take on full time support work for a special needs college in Gloucester; this will mostly be supporting students on a 1:1 basis, but there may be some requirement to work with a small group as well. This college specialises in students with various learning difficulties over the ages of 16. We are ideally looking for someone that either has experience supporting students in a school environment or has extensive work history in working with special needs such as those with physical disabilities.

The college offers students, full or part time courses as well as those that are live in as well. Work opportunities here will vary depending on the students and what support you wish to get involved in, for example some may be more typical school hours, where as others may also include evenings etc.

Due to the needs of the students the right person will need to be okay with adminstering personal care or using hoist equipment. You will be empathetic, patient and happy to get stuck in when it comes to ensuring that students have the best possible start in adult life and are able to learn new skills and prepare for life outside of the college.

The right person will need to work well both on their own or as part of a team, have strong communication skills, able to work with those that may be non verbal, and follow the instructions and plans laid out in a students healthcare plan.

So whether you have worked in schools, a care home or some other form of work with special needs, get in touch today to see what we can do for you. In order to work with children you will need to have an enhanced DBS on the update service or apply for one on application.
